Blogging: The Importance of Having a Keyword Goal in Your Title

Written by Brandon Schaefer, Founder of eioLIFE

People browse web articles as if they are walking in the mall window-shopping. They don’t stop until something catches their eye, then, they may stop for a moment and have a look. Even better, most of the time, the store displays the best items in the front windows, or the items they are looking to sell the most of. This is called attention grabbing, a good blog title will do the same thing.

The same is true for blog articles that you write. You want to draw people into read your blog post, to educate them, to share your emotions, to share your viewpoint, or whatever your goal is, you want to get them to read it and take action. Taking action means, getting more information from you, buying your Ebook, leaving a comment, or networking with you on future projects.

Let me tell you, this is not about having a great title and crappy content, this is about having a great title and great content. The title is what is going to draw people in to read your article, the title is also what is going to draw Google to place your article on the first search page. Don’t get me wrong, the title is not the end-all be-all, but it is a great starting point to get the window shoppers in, as well as spark Google to index your site on the first page.

The best suggestion I can make is be your authentic self when you are writing, this will naturally lead to great content and a great title. Don’t try and be keyword heavy, you will only attract window shoppers, and traffic that really does not matter to you. You want pre-qualified web traffic, the most simplest way to do this is by having a great title and great content, that match and work harmoniously together.
